The Hotels I recommend to stay in Atlanta:
St. Regis- The St. Regis in Buckhead is fabulous. A 10/10 if you want to splurge. This hotel is by great dining options, including the ATLAS inside, Chopt, and Umi Sushi. There are also a few top notch places to grab drinks. The Garden Room is one of these (make sure to grab a reservation on Opentable). The main bar in the lobby of the hotel is fun too- you might catch some live music and find yourself doing a duet... W Buckhead- Great location. A safe option for a moderately priced weekend. Has a rooftop bar and pool. The rooftop bar is more like a club so if that's not your scene, skip it! Claremont-A new hotel. Great for groups- they have bunkbed rooms. Has a fun rooftop- Tiny Lou's The Top Restaurants I recommend in Atlanta: Staplehouse- currently, for covid, this has been redesigned into a market. Check out the about section on their website for the history behind its creation. All the proceeds go to a great cause & it's an incredible story. Umi Sushi- make sure to try their box rolls. The otoro is fantastic. The wagyu roll is an a+, and if you like uni, it's a 10/10 here! Aria- some would say aria is their favorite restaurant in ATL. It is on my list for when we return. Bacchanalia- is a four-course tasting experience. My recommendations would be to start with the crab fritter or the lobster dish. For the second course, the duck. For your third course, pick the cheese course and dessert; they are all exceptional, so you can't go wrong. This is part of the Star Provisions group. All of their restaurants are well decorated with excellent food & ambience. Marcel - this restaurant wins for phenomenal atmosphere and interior design. Request Maurice, aka "the gangster of love" he is known to sing you a jingle to thank you for dining. Superica- margaritas, dare i say more? Taqueria Del Sol- crave-worthy tacos. My local friends agree this and the below rank for #1 taco spot in ATL. Little Rey- this is also debatably the best tacos in Atlanta. Things to Do in Atlanta: Lucy's Market- A market meets wine shop meets a holiday shop meets a place to spend all your money! You will find a reason for everything. Arcade games on the top of Ponce Market Catch a Braves Game Road trip up to Roswell for a winery/brewery experience Hiking- you may be shocked to hear that there are some trails near Atlanta Head to Athens for a UGA game Things Unique to Atlanta: The Varsity- "What'll ya have, what'll ya have" this is the largest drive-in fast-food chain (make sure you go to the OG). Truly an experience. Make sure to get the rundown on how to order. If you want a plain hot dog that's called a "naked dog," & "red dog" is a hot dog with ketchup.. don't worry; I have linked the lingo here. Ponce City Market- Great adaptive reuse building. Fun for family & friends. They have shopping, a food hall with every cuisine imaginable- Indian, Chinese, Italian, Mexican... you name it they have it! Funny story, my best friend from college, Katy, and I (pictured on the left) went to the rooftop in the elevator. We got stuck for a solid 10 min. Not to worry, someone came to our rescue, and nothing that can't be fixed by another cocktail! Be aware it costs 15 dollars as an entrance fee to go up to the top or make a reservation at the 9-mile station and avoid the fee. The Beltine- 33-mile trail with fun stops on the way. I recommend starting by ponce market and walking until you get to the old fourth ward. Tiny Doors ATL- be on the lookout for some tiny doors throughout the city. There are 15 total, one on the beltline & one in Reese Witherspoon's store-Draper James. Elton John- Elton John loves Atlanta! You might catch him at Umi Sushi... check out his digs here. 48 hours in ATL: Friday stay in buckhead catch a pilates class at stellarbodies grab juice/smoothie/coffee at dtox walk to chastian park grab an uber to sugarcoat for a manicure pop on over to shopping and food- lucys market, w port, henris head back to hotel to freshen up grab drinks at marcels head to dinner at bachannalia Saturday wake up and pop in a soulcycle class head to Ponce Market for brunch walk the beltline pop in the brewery, ladybirds, tiny lou's refresh back at hotel grab dinner at aria or umi head to the st. regis for drinks at the garden room after |
