A guide to visiting the White Stallion Ranch :
My childhood best friend, Courtney, and I decided to go on a gals trip for her March birthday. We were debating where to go and landed on a dude ranch. She and I had been on vacation the year prior (2020), where we rode horses and enjoyed it more than we thought we would. Therefore, we decided we wanted a ranch-themed trip. I love a good theme! I have reviewed a few things about the White Stallion Ranch. We had a blast! The rooms were nice, and spacious and the grounds were stunning. Views of the mountains and cactuses were visible from around the whole property. We could relax this trip as there is not much "nightlife" if you can imagine. Each night they have an activity beginning around 8, and that concludes the evening. Examples of nighttime activities include live music and a falcon show! See my thoughts below and check out my instastory for more. Transportation to the White Stallion Ranch: The ranch is accessible via flying into PHX or TUS airport. They (WSR) offers a free shuttle service to guests (to/from Tucson airport) if they stay four nights with the Full American Plan booking. Otherwise, the price of the shuttle is additional. I would recommend staying four nights (and booking the American Plan) if you plan on one, flying into Tucson & two, if you like shooting. If you book this plan and stay the four nights, the cost of shooting is included. Something to keep in mind. If you do decide to fly into PHX, the drive is about 1.5 hours to the ranch- option to uber or rent a car. Food Review at White Stallion Ranch: All meals are buffet-style. The menu is on the bulletin board the day of so you can check out the meals. They do pay attention to dietary restrictions. However, they do not offer alternative meals. Our first night, they had a bbq dinner- brisket, ribs, chicken. There are always sides available and a dessert. The lunches when we were there included a taco bar & a burger bar. For breakfast on Sunday, you filled out a form to order eggs, bacon, etc. I highly recommend signing up for the breakfast horseback ride the other days if it is available. Breakfast pictured on the right- they call it the cowboy breakfast, eggs, potatoes, and pancakes. Activities at the White Stallion Ranch: The hotel sets out activity sign-up sheets the day before for guests to sign up. Activities include archery, horseback riding, shooting, e-biking, and rock climbing. See the list here. Horseback Riding at White Stallion Ranch: Every day, besides Sundays, guests can sign up for many rides. They have beginner and advanced riders. To pass for advanced/fast rides, guests must take a short test before advancing. The test is to make sure you can keep space in front of other riders as well as "lope." A new term I had not heard of before this trip. Courtney and I ended up signing up for the breakfast ride, which was a blast. A 'Beer and Cheetos ride in the late afternoon that people said was great. Lessons are available if you want to partake; they cost $78 (for two) for a private lesson and around $40 for a group lesson and are an hour long. Shooting at the White Stallion Ranch: Since WSR does not have horseback riding on Sundays, my friend Courtney and I decide to sign up for shooting! We were so happy we did. We were able to take a lesson and practice. This activity takes 1.5 hours total and costs around $40 a person for the ammo (as mentioned above). Pool: The ranch does have a pool and hot tub on site. The hot tub is "inside." Don't forget to bring your room towels and sunscreen. The gift shop sells sunscreen if you forget it as we did! Spa: WSR has two massage therapists on site. Sign up at the front desk; massages are $65 for an hour which is a great deal! Bar Area: my favorite hangout spot! The bar operates on an honor system with no bartender. Therefore, there are no cocktails besides premade margaritas. They have a wine fridge and pantry. Each guest fills out a form, what they call a "chit," to purchase drink selections. A tip, stop at a liquor store before you arrive and bring your wine! They have fridges in the room as well! The bar area has water bottles for purchase, but it would be wise to stock up on water before arriving! Similar Dude Ranches: Rancho de los Cabelleros Tanque Verde Ranch Outfit details linked here. |
