Cambridge Day Trip
Punting- highly recommend the public tour for the fun of relaxing and you and your crew can drink some wine in the boat while getting a history lesson. Also, we saw a gal fall in driving to punt on her own so I would not recommend. We went with lets go punting! but there are many companies (all meet in the same area). If you don't book in advance, do not fret because there are people all over the town advertising! Bould Brothers Coffee- chic coffee shop serving amazing coffee & tea drinks + pastries. My coffee shop rec over Fitzbillies (recommended by the town for their chelsea buns, see below!) Pint Shop- lunch spot that serves Sunday roast. Okay service (super slow when we visited) but fun casual spot. It has a pub in the front with a smaller restaurant and restaurant in back. Midsummer House Restaurant- Fine dining restaurant, tasting menu served for both lunch and dinner. Vanderlyle- Tasting menu restaraunt that works with many local farmers & producers in the area. Make a reservation on Tock! Oak Bistro - British elegant dining, offers a set lunch & a la carte menu. Fitzbillies- famous for their chelsea buns, sort of tourist trap but a fun place to try a very sweet pastry The Eagle- pub with a lot of history. Opened in 1667 rumored to be where DNA was discovered. Also, right by Jacks Gelato below if you have a sweet tooth. Jacks Gelato- many flavours including vegan- super popular and always seemed to have a line. Who doesnt like ice cream though! |
