(still in progress)
Pro tip, when visiting Cote d' Azur if you want to see multiple places (and are not fortunate to be on a yacht) rent a car! It was such a huge help to maximize our time. The airport that you fly into for any of the above places (and St. Tropez) is in Nice. There is a rental car spot attached to the airport which makes it very easy. Nice, France Hotels: Negresco Le Meridien Anantara Plaza AC Hotel by Marriott Restaurants: Le Plongeoir- very touristy, almost everyone spoke english, not worth it for food (quality and price), but views are great. Would go here for apps or just drinks. Rouge- such a fun local spot with great food, a wine bistro with small plates in the old port Lavomatique Le Bistro D Antoine Maido Paper Plane- brunch spot Le Merenda Peixes La Petite Maison L'Alchimie Le Chantecler JAN- might be Evan and I's favorite restaurant of all time. This is a must book! Drinks Boston Bar Goya Shapko- Live music spot To do: Beach, reserve a beach club- chairs or lunch at the table settings. My fav is, Plage Negresco Hike up Jardin de la Paix at sunset for the views, need good shoes that you can walk in- lots of uphill Rent a boat, use this site Eze: A great day spot to visit, or if you want to splurge and stay at the ___ hotel. Totally worth it. Two ways to do Eze, drive from Nice park at the bottom then hike up through the town to explore and see the botanical gardens- wear tennis shoes or shoes you can walk uphill and a lot of rocky steps in. The second way is to drive to the top and have lunch at the Michelin star restaurant. Monaco: Cannes: Antibes: Cassis: Le Bistro de Nino- fresh seafood restaurant in the port. Small menu put everything so good. Evan had monkfish that was insane and I did seabass. Always have daily sides which for us were ratatouille, mash potatoes and frites. (not sure i would go here as a vegetarian) Les Roches Blanches- the hotel to stay at, had a great beach club- Rocco. Gorgeous pool seating on the cliffs and incredible views. I would stay here! Hikes- multitude of cliff hikes, i would hike by calanque d'en vau and perhaps bring a picnic Domaine du Bagnol- Winery in the city, make an apt if you want to do a tasting here. The vines are absolutely stunning. La Villa Madie- fancy french restaurant on the michellin guide Restaurant La Presquile- restaurant with a view, located on one of the cliffs (or edges) of Cassis. This spot is also on the michellin guide. **if you want a quick tour (times range from 1 hr to about 2 hr) head to the port and buy a ticket for the boats, they run every 20 min or so. They cruise to all of the ports to get a view of Cassis from the water. Very inexpensive boating option. There is an option that is longer that i think goes all the way to Marseilles (i think they take a swim break too). Tickets are sold 30 minutes prior to departure and no earlier. |
