To be fair, this is a blog post for Travelers Rest & Greenville. I had a middle school (and high school) friend of mine getting married in South Carolina. Her parents moved out there a few years ago from our hometown, and Kaitlyn (my friend) fell in love with it during COVID.
Her wedding took place at a stunning hotel, Hotel Domestique. To Evan's (my fiance's) surprise, it was a road biking hotel. George Hincapie, a retired pro-cyclist, started the hotel. The hotel has about eleven huge rooms with even bigger bathrooms. The accommodations alone were beautiful. A "wellness" room equipped with two spin bikes, massage tables, and an infrared sauna. The hotel had a nice restaurant, Restaurant 17, and a pool out back. The grounds were stunning; the best part was the road biking rental accommodations. Before visiting the hotel, guests receive a 'fit sheet.' This worksheet is so specific that the hotel (more specifically a man named Chad) can fit your bike to your liking. The bikes were some of the nicest I had ridden. With electronic gears and a GPS with pre-loaded rides in the computer. Riding from the Hotel Domestique was made a breeze even if you are unfamiliar with the area. Evan and I were able to pick the length of ride and elevation we wanted and would be on our way. I can't say enough great things about our stay at Hotel Domestique. We were able to spend some time in downtown Greenville; however, I look forward to going back soon to explore more and try more restaurants. For the rehearsal dinner, we went to Passerelle Bistro. It is a french bistro located downtown close to the river. The patio was adorable, and we could hear music from the live performers in the streets. After celebrating over dinner, a crew went to a piano bar. It was about a mile walk from the restaurant. The dueling piano bars' name is- Jack and Diane. They charge a cover at the door, so bring cash. The place was packed, and it was a blast. Our crew was feeling it the following day to say the least. On our last day in South Carolina, the wedding party went to Kailtyns lake house. I was blown away by how beautiful the water with the landscape was. The lake was Lake Keowee. It is a bit of a drive from Travelers Rest but worth it. Evan and I had to catch a flight after the lake day. The Greenville airport was about a 75 min drive from the lake. We were a bit short on time and arrived with 40 min until take off. Thank goodness for such sweet staff and an easy airport- No lines at check-in and no security lines. Evan and I walked on the plane without issues (and checked a bag). The airport is very nice as well- clean and lots of food options, including a chick fil a! I hope we return to Greenville soon! Although, I was not able to explore more of downtown Greenville. Here are some of my friends (aka the brides) favorite restaurants that has spent plenty of time there: Juniper Lazy Goat Top Soil Urban Wren Up on the Roof Jianna Breweries: Birds Fly South Ale Project Swamp Rabbit She also reccomends the Saturday farmers market in downtown Greenville or taking a day trip to the Biltmore and/or visiting Table Rock State Park. |
