Philly is such a cool city. I have been lucky to go a few times. Once when i was super little and took a historical trip, i have no memory of this but i know we visited the liberty bell. Most recently, Evan and I went a few times to visit his brother back when he was in college and then most recently we went for a wedding. I always have a great time. The downtown is super charming, the restaurants are sneaky good, and its fun to walk around and explore.
My Philly restaurant list consists of places still on my food bucketlist as well as places i have gone to and reccomend: Zahav : see pictures to right. zahav is an isreali tasting menu resturant. It has been on my list for years of places to dine. First course is the salatim, followed by the vegetables, salmon, lamb tartare. the final savory course was the best- the crispy rice, kebab and lamb. Lastly, the desert was incredible. For gluten free guests they modify everything and are great about no cross contamination. We did not participate in the wine pairing as we had friends opt in for this and gave it a so so review. Suraya: Israeli spot in Fishtown perfect for brunch. Great patio! Laser Wolf K'Far: israeli brunch spot, same ownership as the three above. this place gets very busy so be sure to get there early so you dont have a wait. If you are not able to sit down, there are great pastries and coffee. You can order at the counter to go! Menu consists of bagels, pastries, salads and bowls. I havent had the chance to a have a full meal here yet but everything looks great. Abe Fisher: jewish resturant. ate here with evans family one trip. I loved it but the food was very rich. Alimentari: similar concept to eataly. market on ground floor with fun italian resturant up top. expect charcuterie, pizza etc. A great spot for a wine happy hour. Dandelion: british pub feeling brunch spot in rittenhouse. perfect for a cozy weekend brunch. The Love: Fun brunch spot located in rittenhouse. Fork: Cute lunch and dinner spot. Evan and I had lunch with friends here. We were super impressed by all the food. All the flavors were super unique and we loved everything. We started with butternut squash soup and split a few mains. One of the people we were with had the cobb salad and said it was the best cobb salad they have had to date. Higher Ground: Same owners as fork. This is a counter service resturant serving sandwhiches, pasta and pizza. Really cool menu with fun ingredients incorporated into all the dishes. Vernick Food and Wine Middle Child Clubhouse: Hands down one of the best sandwhiches I have had. Came here for lunch/brunch on a saturday afternoon. Such a great vibe. Fun cocktails and amazing lunch and breakfast sandwhcihes. They offer gluten free bread which makes this a 10/10 in my book. Parc: French brunch spot close to Rittenhouse Square. Do not expect to walk in and get a seat unless you are okay with sitting at the bar. This place gets packed. A great french menu- perfect for lunch and brunch. The nicoise salad is fabulous (especially with a side of fries). It seemed like the quiche was a hit off the brunch menu as well. Double Knot: Sushi spot near Rittenhouse El Vez: popular mexican spot! White Dog Cafe: fun brunch spot located on penns campus Things to Do: Liberty Bell Reading Terminal Visit Penn Dilworth Park: if you visit during Christmas make sure to check out the market and ice skating rink in Dilworth park. Rittenhouse Square: normally hosts a farmers market in the summer months. |
