Stay:
The Landsby- great location & updated hotel. Evan and I stayed there. We loved it but beware; the rooms are very minimalist. They had larger suites that we took a peek into- two-story suites with sitting rooms. The hotel has a great restaurant with an outdoor patio and a separate patio with firepits outback. Skyview Los Alamos- roadside hotel turned into a luxury hotel. I am dying to stay here next time. Its located in Los Alamos. Midcentury vibe, heated pool, bikes for rent and the restaurant Norman make this spot a home run! Mirabelle Inn- located in the town of Solvang aka Little Denmark. Has a five star restaurant inside- First & Oak. Danish style old school rooms. Eat: SY Kitchen- Evan and I went here for dinner and so thankful we did. It's about a 15-minute drive from Solvang. Use Solvang Taxi. We couldn't believe that this tiny town had such a great spot; the outdoor and indoor seating was superb. We got there early to order cocktails. I can't recommend the cilantro margarita more. I am from Texas, and this margarita competes for the best margarita I have had in my life. For dinner, we over ordered. Everything sounded too good. The best main courses we had were the chicken dish and the salmon with lentils. Succulent Café- located across the street from The Landsby hotel. We did not go here, but the locals recommend it. Go for the cheese & stay for the wine... or is it go for the wine & stay for the cheese board? First & Oak- Locals told us this was the best restaurant in town, 5 star! Evan and I are looking forward to our next trip to give this a shot. We were only in Solvang one night and looking forward to staying longer next time around. Good Seed Café - great coffee, they have fun mushroom elixir & matcha drinks too. Union Cocktail Station- located in Santa Ynez. Saloon 1800 is a historic landmark in the town. Stop, have a cocktail, and take in the old school setting. Wineries: McKinney Family Winery- A micro-winery located in the mountains of Saint Ynez. Evan and I went on a tour from Santa Barbara (Sustainable Wine Tours) here. We had the privilege of meeting the winemaker- Matt McKinney. Evan and I joined the wine club here; our favorites were Blood of Jobe, Napoleon's Secret & Queen of Charlemagne. Happy Canyon Winery- A family-owned winery near Santa Barbara. This family loves horses and polo. If you join their wine club, members get invited to their annual polo match in the summer. Ten Goal is their best seller. |
